Reading other reviews, I am amused by the number of readers who do not fear clue about how rural southern hill behave (and esp. Listed in 1920). They accuse Hardy, and to some extent LaBeouf, bad acting, because their characters are so laconic (which means that they do not run off at the mouth too much) and inside and not take any feelings on their sleeves. So powerful praise Oldman and Pearce for big plays when they were actually just playing gangsters urban North who like to behave over the top --- the very thing that disgusts people sensibilities.The southern shell these re commenting , rivers have probably spent too much time watching movies based on comic books and not enough time with the dramatic characters that represent real people. So do not pay attention to your noise.Instead, see movie. This is good. I liked.
