After viewing the first trailer I was immediately giddy to see a new post-apocalyptic movie The Road Warrior vein. Being a fan of the genre, we have to get used to the recurring theme of the Lone Wanderer so prominently used. I thought this movie would go through the same formula, but ready to enjoy myself.Yes made using Lone travel as plot device driving, and this is done in the arbitrary rotation. That all survivors are supported on T-shirts, but live in wealth and leather goggles. That everything in this film looks and feels like a typical after apocalyptia. But the essence of the story is much stronger then I could expected.Without always giving away too much, the film is essentially a Christian metaphor. Eli seems to be protected by some mysterious force, which was led by God head west. But what it means to really bizarre plot makes this movie so great. It's really a film about faith and belief in one self. Using a sad light on apocalyptic film can contrast this powerful message with harsh terrain. Even in the midst of such despair can rise and accomplish nothing. In a world that is slowly becoming apocalyptic itself, this post is quite welcomed.The other factors lending power of The Book of Eli are techn Technical issues it. Cinematography is simply beautiful. Moody slo-mo shots abound in wonderfully toned colors. Everything looks dark and dead, the sun beating down endlessly on the dusty dunes. The soundtrack adds to this feeling of extreme, using soft ambient chords and drums Blasting action scenes when needed. General Book of Eli is a really great movie and a great spin on the apocalyptic type. Oh yeah, and Denzel Washington actually successfully pull off part of your wizened, old bad ass.
